Walking through the streets of Istanbul makes you think you walk through the world. But its not only the advanced civilisation of ancient Istanbul, what fascinates people from all over the world. The magic of this city is made by the people, who walk through the streets of Istanbul. But mostly its hardly to understand the heart if we dont know the tongue. So knowing this melodic language opens a door to a world where so many different minds pass by without speaking. But we need to get curious, we need to get open dialogues, and we need to get to love the foreign.
At the end the desire to explore the foreign gives birth to the new.
So lets say hello to the very special tourists, inhabitans and all between, that makes us turn to open a conversation between two worlds.
Su and Doga on the Istikklal Street. Su ve Doga, bir gün ne olmak istersiniz? Bunu sormayiunuttum, ama hepimiz cok bilmek isteriz. Resimlerin altina yazsaniz cok seviniriz!
Su and Doga are from Istanbul. Su is just 15years old and her boyfriend Doga 16years old. Both go together to the same school in Istanbul. Seeing this sweet couple, holding each other and even wearing similar shoes makes you wish to be back sweet sixteen again. Both were very insecure at the beginning but later you could see how happy they felt about the compliments. Seeing the couple also makes you feel forget that there could be ever something else than love. When both told me their name, I couldnt believe how great they seem to fullfill each other. Su means Water and Doga means Nature.
Istanbul might be full of gorgeous girls and women with long hair and sparkling eyes as everyone says. But what Su makes beautiful and unique is her innocent look and not knowing how she affects people. Looking into her eyes is like looking into deep water, the sea of Istanbul. The Hippie-Look fits so authentic to her appearance with her boyfriend.
We dont know Su and Doga, their character might be still unformed, they might discover different faces of the world and themselves, they might become a doctor or an actor or an architect or a musician. We dont know. We used to ask people as adults, what they do, we used to ask them, who they are, but we mostly forget to ask them, who they want to be one day and what they want to become. Life is becoming, and we should never stop being a child.
I also forgot to ask Su and Doga, what they want to be one day. But even forgetting to ask the question remembered me that its sometimes better to forget yourself, and sometimes to give you the chance to be everything you want to.
We dont know Su and Doga and yet we see that both have the composure, the lightness and the innocence of the world. I wish both all the best for the future and I hope you, Su ve Doga, will reach everything you want to.
